It's only 3 days till the start of my first world cup event in the full rig! Can't wait!
The last few weeks i have been back into full time training and enjoying my old routine of gym, bike, sail everyday. Hard, long days but very rewarding and we have seen some good improvements in my sailing, still a long way to go though! As sail melbourne is fast approaching, lots of the interstate and international guys have started arriving so we have done a couple of days training with them, i've learnt heaps in only 2 days and have had a few good results in the training races and made a long list of things to work on in the coming months.
Another exciting thing that has happened has been the purchase of a new road bike (thanks to the VIS for helping me out!) it's an 'Apollo Elite' the same bike the VIS Road racing team rides so needless to say it is a great bike to ride! have been doing a lot of riding lately and loving it, great way to get some fitness work in and enjoy it at the same time, looking forward to many more hours on the saddle.
Finally, the Victorian Institute of Sport held their annual 'Awards of Excellence' on tuesday night, at the Crown Palladium. We enjoyed great food and entertainment and had a good time catching up with everyone. I was lucky enough to be awarded with the Sailing Award, and massive congratulations go to Tess Lloyd for very deservingly winning the 'Gatorade Spirit Award' for overcoming her injury earlier in the year.
Will update you all during Sail Melbourne.
